Iowa Ear Center is committed to your health and safety as the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread. We are monitoring the CDC and WHO website, working with local hospitals and other ENT offices, and taking all necessary precautions.

Masks: Currently, Iowa Ear Center does not require masks for patients or staff. This is subject to change dependent upon CDC recommendations and community levels of COVID-19 in Iowa - should we re-establish a mask requirement, we will notify our patients.

Online check in: We invite our patients to check in online at our Patient Portal prior to their appointment.

Telemedicine - We are pleased to announce that Dr. Carfrae and Trisha Hittenmiller now offer telemedicine visits for patients with eligible diagnoses. If you are interested in setting up a telemedicine visit, please contact us. We are unable to offer audiology telemedicine visits at this time.

Hearing Device Drop-in Clinic - We have returned to our normal hearing device drop-in clinic hours of Tuesdays from 4:00 - 5:30 and Wednesdays from 11:00 - 12:30. Patients or their loved ones may drop off devices for repair or cleaning during these times without an appointment.

Please note, we CANNOT perform testing for coronavirus. Please contact your primary care provider, Urgent Care or your local emergency room, or visit TestIowa.com, if you:

  • have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, a sudden loss of taste or smell, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, or other symptoms of respiratory illness or flu

  • have been exposed to someone that has been diagnosed with coronavirus, is being tested for coronavirus, or has come in contact with anyone under quarantine for coronavirus

  • have recently traveled internationally or domestically via airplane
